As the Sanitation Program Specialist, you will be responsible for providing sanitation support to the facility to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and the HACCP, GMP and SSOP'S programs, as well as ensure employee safety and compliance to the Occupational Health & Safety Act.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Directs employees in GMP's, HACCP, pre-operational, and sanitation procedures
  • Directs and works with sanitation contractors in the scheduling and completion of daily and periodical sanitation tastls
  • Prepares reports and maintains records for due diligence of sanitation procedures and continuous improvements
  • Submits work orders for the repair and maintenance of equipment with follow up
  • Provides leadership by instilling team goals and objectives and fosters good staff relationships in order to gain commitment from employees
  • Ensure employee and contractor safety and compliance to the Occupational Health & Safety Act
  • Implements and execute all sanitation activities as assigned, in a safe manner consistent with HACCP, GMP and SSOP's
  • Conducts a daily pre-operational Inspection and completes the pre-operational inspection form - ensures that PM shift production finishes on time and the plant is ready for sanitation also ensures that set-up does not start until pre-up has been completed
  • Conducts sanitation audits; addresses any sanitation issues from previous day and that sanitation is following procedures e.g. high pressure tips, dry pick-up, rinse, soap, and sanitize
  • Fills out the "Daily Sanitation Hand-off Form"
  • Conducts daily on-site verification for chemical titrations
  • Contact person for equipment lock-out for sanitation
  • Performs swabs as needed
  • Conducts daily chemical room audits (spills, usage, cleanliness)
  • Leads weekly sanitation meetings
  • Daily monitoring of sanitation activities (# of employees on site, start & finish times, PPE's, health & safety, tasks)
  • Works with chemical supplier to ensure compliance to chemical program and the team has the right tools for the right job.
  • Daily communication with Manager of Food Safety and Quality Assurance (email and in person)Compliance with all CFIA pre-op on-site requirements
  • Ensures the establishment complies with applicable legislation for sanitation
  • Provide assistance to CFIA inspection staff when carrying out on-site monitoring
  • Takes effective corrective actions when there is any non-compliance situation related to sanitation
  • Keep Manager of Food Safety and Quality informed on all aspects of areas of responsibility
  • Meet regularly with Manager of Food Safety and Quality (1-1 process)
  • Assist Manager of Food Safety and Quality in third party audits, foreign country audits
  • Develop and review personal plan ensuring that it personal development goals as well as goals that support the key initiatives of the organization 

Qualifications

  • 3 - 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment with relevant work experience focused in HACCP requirements, sanitation procedures, cleaning systems, chemicals, and health & safety.
  • Post-secondary diploma in Food Science or certificate for a relevant program
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Effective communication skills
  • Well established organizational skills to manage multiple tasks
  • Self-starter with good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Continuous learner and willingness to embrace change
  • Flexible to work shifts and overtime as needed (will work a night shift)
